Issuing an asset

How to issue your asset on the blockchain?

To finalize your token, its ticker must be reserved on the blockchain. This guarantees you can use it as identification in contracts, agreements, and other documentation.

Issuance not only reserves your ticker but also locks in key asset parameters (such as name, precision, and website). For Liquid Network, this process includes registration in the Blockstream asset registry, which requires domain ownership verification.

Prerequisites for issuance

Before you can issue your asset on-chain, you must complete:

  • Asset creation

  • Initial token pool setup (adjustable after issuance)

  • Treasury wallet generation

Issuance process

The issuance process is asynchronous and works as follows:

  1. Trigger issuance request - Your asset moves to "in issuance" status

  2. Wait for completion notification with one of two outcomes:

    • Success - Your asset receives "Issued" status and is live on-chain

    • Failure - You receive an error notification (for example, if the ticker was claimed by another project) and the asset moves to "issuance failed" status (with issuance failure reason reflected on the asset)

  3. Retry if needed - If issuance fails, you can make necessary adjustments and trigger issuance again

What's next?

🎉 Congratulations! 🎉 Once your asset is successfully issued on-chain, you're ready to begin the distribution phase and start onboarding investors.
